Preservation and preparation of Poultry Meat
Chicken- as well as turkey meat is fast and easy to prepare, versatile, and the ideal foodstuff for all age groups. Also it is nutritious and non fattening.
Here are some guidelines for preserving and preparing chicken:
Preservation
Make sure to avoid contact between raw and cooked foods. Keep the raw chicken- or turkey meat on the lower shelves of the refrigerator and the cooked products on the upper ones. Make sure always to cover the products with wrapping or preserve them in covered containers.
Cooking
- Take care of good hygiene and wash your hands with soap and warm water, before and after handling the chicken, also when you want to pick up other products or materials;
- Make sure to keep your kitchen surfaces clean by cleaning them with warm water, detergents, and disinfectants;
- Wash the utensils and wood surfaces used in food preparation in the dishwasher or with good hot water;
- The chicken and turkey meat has to be cooked at proper temperatures, make sure they are thoroughly cooked. ;
- Do not leave cooked food at room temperature for more than two hours;
- Do not store uncooked meat near already cooked foods;
- Always follow the instructions on the package.
To obtain a crispier and tastier type of meat, prior to placing it in the oven, rub the chicken or turkey with lemon juice another benefit is that it will not stick to the oven pan.
